My name is Ambata Kazi-Nance and I am a freelance writer and a budding fiction writer. I’ve written articles for Azizah magazine, the leading international magazine for Muslim women, and I am a contributing blogger at Grow Mama Grow (www.patheos.com/blogs/growmama), an online forum for Muslim mothers. I am a member of MelaNated Writer’s Collective (www.melanola.com), a group for writers of color in New Orleans, LA. As for my fiction, I write short stories and stories for children and insha Allah (if God wills it) I plan to write novels too. My writing focus (so far) is spiritual growth and healing, relationships, and family and I enjoy dabbling in magical realism. I was born and raised in New Orleans and for better or worse still call the city home with my husband and son.
I started this blog primarily as an exercise to get in the habit of writing regularly but also as a space to express my thoughts on things and hopefully create some dialogue. I am an avid reader and a deep thinker and just an overall lover of life. As a peace-loving Muslimah this is a hate-free space designed for positive energy and open minds and hearts. I look forward to connecting with other readers, writers and bloggers.
Peace Paz Shalom Salaam, and all that other good stuff.
